How Your Films are Analyzed Digitally

Image Acquisition

Your films are scanned to produce high resolution digital color images.

Digital Image Processing

Each film image is processed to produce a binary (B&W) image that reflects the loss of oxide coating from the film.

Image Quantification

The binary image is quantified using sophisticated image analysis software that results in numerical output for each 1 cm increment along the full length of the film.

Analysis

Using the criteria specified in the National Technical Committee for Hydric Soils (NTCHS) Technical Standard* and also the recommended criteria published by Castenson and Rabenhorst (2006)**, the data are analyzed and summarized in a user friendly report.

Price

The cost is $75 per set of 5 replicate films ($15/film), including detailed analytical report. Invoicing will occur when films have been processed.

Reports

Reports include scanned color images, binary images, detailed graphs of data, clear summarized analyses interpreted with respect to approved standards.

What to Do

Download this form and complete it, then:

1. Submit a copy to this email address: analytics@IRISOxides.com

AND

2. Print a copy of the completed form and include with shipped films (see below).

Rinse (with gentle washing to remove all adhering soil - front and back - using a soft cloth or soft sponge) and then air dry films. (Note if films need to be washed by AIO, an additional $2.00 fee per film will be assessed.)
